Let Me Live
Born silently as I was a heap of clay,
No one rejoiced no one shouted with mirth,
As a cow gave birth to calf, stirred that much of worth
Nothing much It was just a foggy and an ordinary day.
Was it a sin to be born as a girl I wonder?
Why I didn’t feel anything a miss in me?
Why I was subjected to such a blunder?
Why no one was bold enough to plunder?
I was a child of earth, a raindrop. a piece of sky
Left alone, unattended, with some cruel words
They waited for some more time to let me die
They needed day to break, instead of swords
I cried in protest kicked hard I just wanted to live
They offered death, simply too aloof to oblige
I cried and cried hard, so that I could be heard
They tried and tried hard to make me numb
In my own heaven, I wanted to grow and cheer
I wanted to deliver so many like me without fear
With my intensity I started a survival fight
I was saved just because I held the life so tight

The light of day, was kaleidoscope of colors
I held it tight, I wanted it to drink and breathe
This is what I was born for and I was made
I refused to succumb to the demands of seethe

Alluring and inviting lights shining as diamonds
Life was calling and I had to go and flow
With thousands of moons in my eyes I giggled
Jumped into sky to spread my wings and fly

A heart rendering poem. I wish more moms shared the same sentiments. Only then will the girl child live and not let die.
