IN THE BACKDROP OF TAJ
You remember when we were walking hand in hand in the lawns of Taj?
The feel of my sweat on your wet hands
The shiver of my body in your warm hug
Your lips quivered in a suppressed smile
When I lifted my steps to join your lips
I lowered my eyes and gave a shrug
You laughed aloud in your usual style
It was your idea of first kiss in the moonlit lawns in the backdrop of Taj.
An awkward silence after that clumsy kiss
Your eyes searching some sign on my lips
My blushing cheeks with a smile of bliss
Trying to touch your nose with my cold tips
You seemed to be walking on the air
I was content holding hands without any fear
I loved your idea of being together for those hours in the shadow of Taj
Time passed and we grew up within years
You called me again on the lawns of Taj
Instead of talking some mushy whispers
You showed me the meaning of Taj
You asked the permission to go away
So that you could earn and build again
Going away from your love to make a tomb in the name of Taj?
Cries and pleading were fallen on deaf ears
Dust started settling on relation of years
You went in the search of name and fame
I waited under the shadow of Taj but in vein
You got busy in your moneymaking gimmicks
And I too was forgetting slowly our love lyrics
You made the choice of leaving me in the name of love inside the Taj.
Standing in front of THINKER today and wondering …Do you remember your promise of coming back to build a monument of our love? Do you stop when you see a picture of TAJ while running in endless race of proving yourself? Proving what? And to whom? I know it is ages but I still miss you when I come across anything related to love, or Taj. Sometimes I just want to shake this THINKER and ask… Are you too repenting for what you did in past? Are you thinking to change the past? Are you thinking about that first kiss which was virgin and just for you? Are you waiting to run away to that life which was carefree and lively? Are you still in love? But I don’t do anything foolish. Just go my way with a dream in my eyes and a prayer in my heart.
